What I’ve learned from a life of cartwheels, chaos, and claiming my worth.
I’ve been tripping my way through life for as long as I can remember—ask my mom. I was either hanging upside down from a tree, doing cartwheels in the front yard, or buried so deep in a book you’d have to wave a hand in front of my face to get my attention. I cried easily. I laughed loudly. I asked way too many questions. My mom loved me. My teachers? Well… not so much.
I was told I was too much—and not enough—all at once.
Too loud. Too curious. Too sensitive. Not quiet enough. Not focused enough. Not easy to manage. Long before ADHD had a name, I was living it—messy, passionate, all heart, and wildly determined. And even with the chaos, one thing stayed true: no one and nothing was going to snuff me out. Deep down, I just knew that God had a plan for me. I didn’t know what it looked like, but I believed it was there.
Fast forward a few decades: I built a multimillion-dollar business, raised three amazing humans, became a best-selling author, owned a gym, and turned pain into purpose.
Not because I had it all figured out.
But because I kept showing up.
Through grief, ADHD spirals, the loss of my son Will, heartbreak, menopause, and those deep doubts that whisper, “Who do you think you are?” I kept getting up.
At 43, I entered my first bikini competition.
At 61, I earned my IFBB Pro Card.
Not to impress anyone—but to prove to myself that I was still growing. Still becoming. Still very much alive.
That stage wasn’t about muscles or makeup—it was a declaration:
I’m still here, and I’m not backing down.
Every time I step on stage, I look for them in the crowd.
The ones who’ve been told they’re too much. Too loud. Too broken. Too complicated. Too emotional. Too “extra.” The ones hiding in plain sight. I want to find their eyes and silently say:
“I see you. I got you. You can do this too. I believe in you.”
Because the truth is:
You’re not too far gone.
You’re not too late.
You’re not too sensitive, too loud, too intense, too anything.
You’re just YOU. And that’s powerful.
So let me ask you:
👉 What were you told you were too much of?
Too bold? Too ambitious? Too sensitive?
Too loud? Too quiet? Too emotional? Too wild?
Write it down.
Sit with it.
And then ask yourself: What if that part of me… is actually my gift?
