Somewhere along the way, we were told to slow down after 40.
To play it safe.
To “take it easy” and accept that our best days were behind us.
Nope. Not happening. Not on my watch.
This is the Age Out Loud mindset — where we lift heavier, laugh louder, and live bolder.
At 61, I earned my IFBB Pro Card. But the truth? That victory wasn’t about vanity — it was about vitality.
I started strength training decades ago to manage my ADHD, my grief, and the stress of raising kids while running businesses. Movement became my meditation and my therapy.
My strength wasn’t just built in the gym — it was forged in the grind of real life.
🧠The Science of Staying Strong
Let’s talk truth: after 30, your body naturally begins to lose 3–8% of muscle per decade — a process called sarcopenia.
But here’s the good news: it’s completely reversible.
Every time you lift a weight, push your body, or challenge your balance, you’re sending a signal to your brain and muscles that says, “I’m still in the game.”
Resistance training increases growth hormone, testosterone, and BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) — the compound your brain releases when you challenge yourself.
It’s like Miracle-Gro for your muscles and your mind.
Muscle is more than strength — it’s your armor against aging.
It protects your bones, balances your hormones, stabilizes blood sugar, and boosts your metabolism.
Think of it as your vitality insurance policy.
đź’ˇ Try This Today
Start small, stay consistent. Two 20-minute strength sessions per week can change everything. Use bands, dumbbells, or bodyweight — whatever gets you moving.
Fuel your muscle. Aim for at least 25–30 grams of protein per meal. Protein isn’t just for athletes — it’s your body’s repair material.
Prioritize recovery. Sleep 7–8 hours, hydrate, and stretch. Muscles grow when you rest, not when you rush.
Walk daily. It’s the most underrated anti-aging tool on earth. Ten minutes after meals can regulate blood sugar and improve mood instantly.
⚙️ The G³ Blueprint™
My secret sauce for aging with confidence and vitality is what I call the G³ Blueprint™ — Grit, Grace, and Goals.
Grit is your fuel — the inner strength to keep showing up when it’s hard.
Grace is your recovery — the ability to forgive yourself, rest, and reset.
Goals give you direction — they keep you focused on what matters most.
When you align these three, you don’t just build muscle — you build momentum.
You stop fighting your age and start thriving through it.
That’s the heart of Age Out Loud — it’s not about getting old, it’s about getting bold.
